Simon Wood graduated from Liverpool University Medical School in 1990 and undertook his specialist training in both Merseyside and Manchester. He returned to Liverpool and the Hewitt centre to undertake research in Fertility before being awarded his medical doctorate in the management of male infertility. He was the first doctor in the North West to undertake and complete subspecialist training in Reproductive Medicine & Surgery.
Following his completion of training he was appointed as a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist at the Countess of Chester Hospital in 2003. As well as being the lead for Fertility he also has special interests including Reproductive Endocrinology, Hormone Replacement and recurrent pregnancy loss. His other responsibilities include the development and maintenance of the Enhanced Recovery Programme to speed recovery from surgery as well as being the lead for research. Simon is committed to delivering high-quality evidence-based care to patients requiring both medical and surgical treatment.
As part of his commitment to education he is both a Royal College trainer for junior doctors with regard to fertility management and ultrasound scanning and is a member of the training committee of the British Fertility Society, organising national training meetings.
